Our numbers are built on real, observed prices, combined from the negotiated rates insurers and hospitals are required to publish under federal transparency rules, Medicare and all-payer claims, and hundreds of additional data sources. We’ve been researching and publishing on healthcare price and quality transparency since 2012, a decade before the federal rules existed.
Plenty of tools clean the transparency files, and some compare carriers. The harder problem is connecting the negotiated rates insurers and hospitals must publish under federal law to the full episode of care: the surgeon, the facility, anesthesia, labs and follow-up, assembled into one bill rather than scattered codes. A lever like site of care, reference pricing, DRG repricing or direct contracting only shows its real value once you can price the whole episode it moves.
